Can I paint, sand, refinish, or modify my furniture?
We advise against painting, sanding, refinishing, or modifying your furniture in any way, as doing so will void the product warranty.
Why isn’t painting, painting, sanding, refinishing, or modifying my furniture recommended?
Here are more reasons why you should leave your furniture and accessories in their original condition:
- HDPE plastic is non-porous. Instead of adhering to the lumber’s surface, any applied paint, stain, or other finishes will chip and flake off.
- Our lumber is designed to have the look and feel of natural wood, so sanding the surface will damage the texture.
- Modifying your furniture in any way (e.g., drilling holes, adding cupholders, cutting table legs, etc.) negatively impacts its structural integrity and could make it unsafe to use.
In certain situations, replacements may not be covered under warranty. If this is the case for you, a cost is associated with acquiring new components.
